We are a group of Okemos High School students working on building a solar-powered car. The car is being built to compete in the Solar Car Challenge, a national high school competition of solar cars. The Solar Car Challenge takes place in Texas every year. In July 2025, the competition will be on several hundred mile loop around Texas. Which ever team can complete the most miles around the loop -- using only energy from the sun to power their car, will win. We want to be a part of this adventure and think our car has a good chance of being highly competitive!
As of today, our solar car is not drivable. We have stripped it down since the competition last year in order to make the car lighter and more aerodynamic. Some of the changes we plan to make include switching the steel solar panel frame bars to aluminum. We are also switching out the windshield design. All of these changes cost significant amounts of money, money that we still need to raise. We need your help to make this happen! We are excited to learn more about engineering, business, design, and problem-solving and are asking for you to support the Okemos Solar Racing Club with a donation. Can you help us out? If you are interested in supporting our club, donate through the box on the right or through here: https://gofund.me/e22ae8ea Sincerely, The Okemos Solar Racing Club |
